Linda Hillerich Paralegal Student Scholarship - Applications Now Being Accepted

LINDA HILLERICH PARALEGAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
2022 SCHOLARSHIP

The Louisville Association of Paralegals is proud to award an annual merit scholarship to a student enrolled in an ABA-approved paralegal studies program in the Louisville Metro area, or an accredited legal studies program in the Louisville Metro area that meets the substantive requirements pursuant to the ABA guidelines. The LAP will award a scholarship of $1,000.00 to one deserving student, along with free membership in the LAP for the first year after the winner’s graduation.  The scholarship will be awarded directly to and made payable to the student.  One runner-up will also receive free membership in the Louisville Association of Paralegals for the first year after their graduation.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Applicant must be a degree-seeking student currently enrolled in an ABA-approved paralegal studies program in the Louisville Metro area, or an accredited legal studies program in the Louisville Metro area that meets the substantive requirements pursuant to the ABA guidelines.
• Applicant must be a current member of the Louisville Association of Paralegals.  LAP Student Membership is available at no cost to paralegal students. Applicants who are not currently a member must submit an online Membership Application at http://www.loupara.org/join-us.
  
• Applicant must have completed a minimum of four (4) classes of paralegal coursework with and an overall GPA of 3.0.
• A current copy of the student’s university transcript must be submitted with the Scholarship Application for verification of enrollment and GPA. Applicant must consent to verification of this information with the University Department Chair.
• Applicant must submit a letter of recommendation with the Scholarship Application. Recommendations may be from a personal, academic or employment reference.
• Applicant may be asked to participate in a personal interview with the selection committee and must be available in person or virtually during the Application submission period.

APPLICATION PROCESS

The Application for the 2022 Scholarship is available via this link. The Application must be submitted in typewritten format and must be signed by the Applicant. 

The deadline to submit Applications is Monday, November 28, 2022. Completed applications must be submitted in PDF format by email to the Louisville Association of Paralegals at louisvilleparalegals@gmail.com. The Applicant will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of their application.  

The Scholarship winner and runner-up will be announced by Friday, December 2, 2022. Winners will receive notification by email. The Scholarship winner and runner-up will be recognized at the LAP’s Holiday Party in December 2022.
