On Saturday, May 9, 2009, LAP members volunteered for the Kentucky Humane Society’s “Waggin’ Trail 5K” Run/Walk at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park. Volunteers were Mary Burden, Kathy Hagerty, Sadie Jackson, Michel King, Melanie Martin and Melissa Reynolds. We staffed the registration booth, refreshments booth, Chip-A-Thon booth and KHS retail booth. This event generated over $90,000 dollars in donations for the Kentucky Humane Society. Thanks go out to all the LAP volunteers who helped make this event such a big success.

This event was “volunteer heaven” for dog lovers. Dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes participated in the 5K Run/Walk and the other fun activities that went on throughout the day. Our own LAP President, Denise Cunningham, and her dog, Patch, were there to join in the fun. Patch was a contestant in the “biggest dog” contest and was, of course, a LAP favorite!
